El autor amplía el conocimiento y restituye la importancia histórica y musicológica de este compositor nacido en Cañete (Cuenca), discípulo del maestro decapilla de Felipe II, Felipe Rogier. Las diferentes partes del libro aportan tanto un detallado status quaestionis como numerosos comentarios y ejemplos para el que guste de los detalles, algunos de ellos presentados de forma comparada, otros con explicaciones minuciosas de artificios que facilitan una visión globalizada del quehacer compositivo de la época. Le siguen el estudio y edición crítica de las partituras recuperadas así como su transcripción a notación convencional. Tras la música, los apéndices finales incluyen la transcripción completa de un nutrido conjunto de documentos relacionados con el compositor.
