Thicker Than Water

A teenager is accused of his own mother's murder in the New York Times bestselling author's YA paranormal thriller: “an engrossing page-turner” (Kirkus). Thomas Bellweather hasn't been in town for long. Just long enough for his newlywed mother to be murdered, and for his new stepdad's cop colleagues to decide Thomas is the primary suspect. Not that there's any evidence. But before Thomas got to the small town of Garrett Mills, there had just been one other murder in twenty years. The only person who believes him is Charlotte Rooker, little sister to three cops and, with her soft hands and sweet curves, straight-up dangerous to Thomas. Her friend was the other murder victim. And she's ready to stop at nothing to find out what happened. But the the answers she's after could get them both killed—and reveal a truth Thomas would die to keep hidden. Praise for Brigid Kemmerer and The Elemental Series “Magic, suspense, and enough twists to keep you reading until sunrise!” —Award winning author Erica O'Rourke “A refreshingly human paranormal romance . . . Read fast and keep that heart rate up.” —Kirkus Reviewson Storm

Elements of KK-Theory

The KK-theory of Kasparov is now approximately twelve years old; its power, utility and importance have been amply demonstrated. Nonethe less, it remains a forbiddingly difficult topic with which to work and learn. There are many reasons for this. For one thing, KK-theory spans several traditionally disparate mathematical regimes. For another, the literature is scattered and difficult to penetrate. Many of the major papers require the reader to supply the details of the arguments based on only a rough outline of proofs. Finally, the subject itself has come to consist of a number of difficult segments, each of which demands prolonged and intensive study. is to deal with some of these difficul Our goal in writing this book ties and make it possible for the reader to "get started" with the theory. We have not attempted to produce a comprehensive treatise on all aspects of KK-theory; the subject seems too vital to submit to such a treatment at this point. What seemed more important to us was a timely presen tation of the very basic elements of the theory, the functoriality of the KK-groups, and the Kasparov product.

Jodi knows that any slip-ups made by the Ophi--a special group of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac--will fall on her shoulders ... and that Hades is just waiting for them to screw up so he can wipe out the Ophi line. Unfortunately, Jodi has only convinced one Ophi to join her school: A hot guy named Chase who jeopardizes her relationship with Alex. Jodi loves Alex, but Chase can enhance her powers with just a touch--making her stronger than any Ophi has ever been. Her mixed emotions send her powers surging out of control, and the dead start rising without her conscious summoning--exactly what Hades doesn't want! If she chooses Alex over Chase, she may lose the battle to Hades, leading the Ophi race to extinction. If she chooses Chase, she might be able to stop Hades for good but lose everything else. Jodi needs to figure things out fast--because death is stalking her at every turn.

Rather than descriptions of cases or short three paragraph samples, The Case Study Anthology provides readers with full cases drawn from a variety of disciplines that illustrate different case study techniques (descriptive, explanatory, cross-case, and methodological). Throughout the text, Robert K Yin provides thoughtful insights and guidelines on the cases and the different approaches to doing case study research.
