Kyffin Williams is the culmination of four years of research at two centres for Kyffin Williams's art, the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, and Oriel Mon, Anglesey. Dr. Qing Chao Ma's illuminating new study incorporates Kyffin Williams's full range; his inspirational landscapes and seascapes in oil, his delicate watercolours, his distinctive linocuts and his mesmeric portraits. With her particular expertise, the author also draws comparisons between the work of Williams and Chinese art, linking him to other artistic traditions and establishing his rightful place in the worldwide art community. Combined with a rigorous biographical account on the life which informed the work and a rich variety of illustrations, Kyffin Williams is an invaluable contribution to the study and appreciation of one of Wales's foremost artists.'No other artist and author has collated so many diverse examples of Sir Kyffin's art in one publication with such coherence. This is a book put together with great care and purpose and written from the heart.' David Meredith, Sir Kyffin Williams Trust

"Brilliant, time-tested and clear" advice that will help writers at all stages, in all genres, write their very best book-and then make it better. As a freelance editor for more than a decade, Williams has shepherded books from rough draft to polished manuscripts bought by Big Five houses, university and literary presses, and for independent publishers. Now, she distills everything she's learned from editing hundreds of drafts, coaching writers past creative blocks, and navigating authors through querying and publication, into this useful guide for every step from idea to book. Seven Drafts: Self-Edit Like a Pro from Blank Page to Book divides writing and revision into distinct stages, with a new focus in each draft. Williams' frank, funny voice encourages writers to tackle even big editing tasks with a sense of humor and a feeling that someone who understands is on their side. With plenty of fresh examples, insider wisdom, and snappy footnotes, Seven Drafts teaches story, character, elements of writing craft and structure, how to seek and use feedback, and the publication process.

Colonel Williams presents a comprehensive study of British bombing efforts in the Great War. He contends that the official version of costs and results underplays the costs while overplaying the results. Supported by postwar findings of both US and British evaluation teams, he argues that British bombing efforts were significantly less effective than heretofore believed.Colonel Williams also presents a strong argument that German air defenses caused considerably less damage to British forces than pilot error, malfunctioning aircraft, and bad weather. That we believed otherwise supports the notion that British bombing raids had forced Germany to transfer significant air assets to defend against them. Williams, however, found no evidence that any such transfer occurred. Actual results, Colonel Williams argues, stand in strong contrast to claimed results.
