Partial least squares is a new approach in structural equation modeling that can pay dividends when theory is scarce, correct model specifications are uncertain, and predictive accuracy is paramount. Marketers can use PLS to build models that measure latent variables such as socioeconomic status, perceived quality, satisfaction, brand attitude, buying intention, and customer loyalty. When applied correctly, PLS can be a great alternative to existing covariance-based SEM approaches. Dr. Ken Kwong-Kay Wong wrote this reference guide with graduate students and marketing practitioners in mind. Coupled with business examples and downloadable datasets for practice, the guide includes step-by-step ...

A common challenge faced by junior marketing faculty is to build a substantial track record of research within the first few years of appointment. Academic publishing can be mysterious and not many people know where to start. This book guides you through the necessary steps to have your first marketing journal article published successfully. Advance Praise for Putting a Stake in the Ground Professor Ken Wong has written a clear, systematic, and detailed guidebook that describes the practical mechanics of academic manuscript preparation and submission. It describes the submission process and explains how to resolve almost any issue that might arise. This useful resource should be in the hands...

Writing scholarly papers is a tough business; when you plagiarize someone elses work, you not only risk getting a bad gradeyou could be expelled. Avoiding Plagiarism helps students to write better papers and avoid mark deduction due to improper citing and referencing. Examples using APA, Chicago, and Harvard citation styles are examined and made easy. Advance Praise for Avoiding Plagiarism Unlike other resources in this area, Dr. Wongs book provides additional information on tools for similarity detection and citation generation. Educators will find this book a valuable resource. Professor Wing Lam, Dean, U21Global, Singapore Knowing how to cite and reference are fundamental skills which are missing in many graduate students. This book provides those missing skills in an easy, innovative and entertaining way. Richard Anthony, Indonesia This book provides useful information considering all the queries that may pop-up in a students mind while attempting to provide citations and references. This book pulls together robust practices in Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) from other disciplines and shows how they can be used in the area of Banking and Finance. In terms of empirical analysis techniques, Banking and Finance is a conservative discipline. As such, this book will raise awareness of the potential of PLS-SEM for application in various contexts. PLS-SEM is a non-parametric approach designed to maximize explained variance in latent constructs. Latent constructs are directly unobservable phenomena such as customer service quality and managerial competence. Explained variance refers to the extent we can predict, say, customer service quality, by exa...
Partial Least Squares (PLS) is an estimation method and an algorithm for latent variable path (LVP) models. PLS is a component technique and estimates the latent variables as weighted aggregates. The implications of this choice are considered and compared to covariance structure techniques like LISREL, COSAN and EQS. The properties of special cases of PLS (regression, factor scores, structural equations, principal components, canonical correlation, hierarchical components, correspondence analysis, three-mode path and component analysis) are examined step by step and contribute to the understanding of the general PLS technique. The proof of the convergence of the PLS algorithm is extended beyond two-block models. Some 10 computer programs and 100 applications of PLS are referenced. The book gives the statistical underpinning for the computer programs PLS 1.8, which is in use in some 100 university computer centers, and for PLS/PC. It is intended to be the background reference for the users of PLS 1.8, not as textbook or program manual.
Written in Dr. Wongs vivid and interesting style, and furnished with real-life examples from Canada, this book helps marketers to generate greater customer value by making good use of market segmentation, product differentiation, and customer retention strategies. Advance Praise for CRM in Action This book helped me a lot in figuring out how to attract the right customers who can see real value in our healthcare services and retain them. It is a lot of planning and thinking behind this seemingly simple task, and this book guides you all the way with simple language and a lot of illustrative examples. Ekaterina Leonova, Sweden Readers will gather from Dr Wongs experience after reading the book because he reveals common traps and pitfalls, and gives advice on self-check questions on how to overcome them or bypass them altogether. This book should give you an excellent start in your CRM initiative. Hoo Chee Wai, Singapore
