Geburtstag von Hans-Jürgen Kerner wird ein Jurist und Kriminologe gewürdigt, dessen Werk und Wirken bei hohem wissenschaftlichem Anspruch nie den Praxisbezug vermissen ließ. Die Interdisziplinarität seiner Arbeiten und das Bestreben, Kriminalpolitik aktiv mitzugestalten, waren und sind wichtige Aspekte seiner Arbeiten. Hans-Jürgen Kerners Schaffenskraft und die Weite seines wissenschaftlichen OEuvre spiegeln sich in rund 700 Veröffentlichungen wider, darunter 40 Monographien und 34 Sammel- bzw. Herausgeberwerke. Zu einem Zeitpunkt, zu dem sich die deutsche Kriminologie wieder intensiv und kritisch mit ihrer Geschichte und ihrer kriminalpolitischen wie wissenschaftlichen Bedeutung beschäftigt, trägt die Festschrift mit Beiträgen zu den Bereichen Kriminologie, Kriminalprävention und Kriminalpolitik, Strafrecht und Jugendstrafrecht sowie Strafverfahren und Strafvollzug auch dazu bei, das wissenschaftliche Profil der Kriminologie zu schärfen.
Developments in Crime and Crime Control Research
"One of the central features of modern German criminology in revealing the 'true nature of crime' follows the tradition of enlightment" instead of accommodating the approach of the criminal justice system. This contention is made by the editors of Developments in Crime and Crime Control Research, Drs. Sessar and Kerner, as they continue to bridge the traditional gap between Anglo-American scholars in criminology and their German counterparts. Criminology in Europe, European criminology?
Die Kriminologie wird, seit sie als eigenständiges Fach im 19. Jahrhundert in Europa entstanden ist, als eine die engen Begrenzungen durch nationale Überlegungen sprengende empirische Wissenschaft betrieben. Deshalb gab es im Laufe der letzten hundert Jahre in der Kriminologie eine Vielzahl themengleicher nationaler und auch vergleichender Studien. Bisher aber fehlt eine transnationale Ausrichtung des Faches selbst, vor allem im sich immer enger verbindenden Europa.Die hier vorgelegten Beiträge eines internationalen Kolloquiums aus Anlaß des 65. Geburtstages von Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Günther Kaiser in Freiburg im Breisgau 1994 versuchen, den Möglichkeiten einer spezifisch europäischen Kriminologie nachzugehen. Schon ein erster Blick auf die im einzelnen ganz unterschiedlich ausgerichteten Beiträge zeigt, daß sich für die künftige Kriminologie in den europäischen Ländern tatsächlich die Frage stellt, ob sie nicht, um international überleben zu können, ihre bisherigen nationalen Grenzen weiter öffnen und sich auch von ihrem Anspruch her als eine transnationale, europäische Wissenschaft verstehen muß.
