Rising Hills and Sinking Valleys

What were the real reasons that kept Emma Smith from migrating West with the main body of the Saints after her husband was murdered? What became of the children and why was Joseph's posterity estranged from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for so many generations? One descendant, and convert to the LDS Church, shares her story, opening the door of understanding that has been lacking since 1844. Born in Maryville Tennessee in 1962, to Joseph and Sue Smith, Kimberly Jo Smith did not learn until age 12 that she had a great-great grand father named Joseph Smith, Jr. who built a church. That revelation set Kimberly on a journey that would reveal to her an ancestry she had never known and a family that had been sorely broken.

Their forbidden love will change everything, exposing all secrets and altering the lives of many, placing the McCarter family at odds with their own lineage. After years of exile, Richard Carlisle and his family have been called back home; back to Heatherfield Hall. Sitting high on a plateau that overlooks the plush boroughs and ravines of Oldham, England, Heatherfield Hall has been home for nearly three centuries to the Carlisle family. Each generation has provided their full measure of dark secrets, still lingering throughout the gloomy, empty hallways. For Richard's daughter, Grace, walking back through those doors would open a memory of evil and death she had sought long to forget. Though she emerges from the carriage to face the looming estate with uncertainty, Grace had not anticipated a future friendship with the gardener's son, Jonathan McCarter, a native of Scotland who would win her heart and drive away her demons. Though the slaying of demons has its price, Jonathan would have Grace Carlisle at any cost. Their forbidden love will change everything, exposing all secrets and altering the lives of many, placing the McCarter family at odds with their own lineage. With a Revolutionary War looming across the sea in the colonies, directions once thought solid and sure are about to take divergent paths at the whim of fate.
