Brain function is under metabolic control, which in turn determines the equilibrium of homeostatic systems that affect neuronal and glial networks on the molecular, cellular, and systems levels. Abraham Kurtz was born about 1720 in Germany and died 1782 in Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He emigrated to America in 1749 (possibly 1740). Abraham married three times: Margaret Bollinger, Barbara Bollinger, and Catharine (last name unknown).
