Typed transcription of a brief autobiography of Lars Jensen Halling. Recounts his birth, conversion, and experiences during his family's emigration to Utah.
Global Liner Shipping is undergoing the largest transformation since the invention of the container itself. The core business models and business cultures which made the shipping lines successful are now failing. The coming decade will see the emergence of new business models suited for a new environment. This transformation is a source of significant opportunity for industry stakeholders, but equally a source of grave risk should existing companies fail to adapt accordingly. This book provides a foundation for industry stakeholders to understand the trends impacting the industry, allowing them to identify the right questions to ask in order to not only survive, but thrive towards 2025.

Historicising postcolonial Europe -- Postcolonial Europe regionalised -- The nation-empires and their legacy -- Postcolonial Europe in the time of crisis.
As the lifeblood of global economic vitality, global liner shipping contributes significantly to international stability and security. Additionally, as a major global enterprise in its own right, the international shipping industry is a major employer and contributes hundreds of billions of dollars to the global economy annually, thereby increasing gross domestic product in countries throughout the world. Liner vessels carry about 60 percent of the goods by value moved internationally by sea each year. Global Liner Shipping fills a gap in the market for a comprehensive book covering all aspects of liner trade. The industry is going through a period of change, so logistics managers and students need to understand how to deal with the current disruptions. In this groundbreaking book, Lars Jensen covers topics such as network development, supply and demand analysis, collaboration, liner profit and loss, e-commerce, risk management and process management. Each chapter ends with a real-life case study and open ended questions. Online supporting resources include templates, sample business plans and PowerPoints.
This book adopts a global approach to analysing Danish nationhood in the current context of a Europe paralysed by crises. Focusing on the global strands which have produced understandings of national selfhood as a consequence of a series of historical and contemporary global encounters, it calls for the production of narratives which better capture how European nations, including Denmark, are shaped by narratives that cannot be understood in (national) isolation, but are contingent on ideas about the nation’s globality. In historical terms, this entails examining how colonialism shaped national self-perceptions; in a contemporary context, it requires looking at colonialism’s unfinished b...
A hopefully reasonably coherent string of tales about the odd, funny, exhilarating and at times sad experiences I have survived through many years in Africa. From a childhood, through teenage years in Tanzania and then around many countries in Africa until today where I am still fortunate to live, work and travel around this incredible continent. I have endeavoured to let the characters I have met along the way be the thread that carries the reader through the abundance of colour, music, pure human energy and determination to succeed which constantly confronts the observer in Africa. Just to provide contrast, I have included a few passages from those periods which found me desperately doing my best to conform and fit into what some call home, in the Nordics - rarely successful and always at great personal costs when it just wouldn't work and Africa beckoned again. Restless and aimless but with highs of love and lows of broken promises and dreams characterise my relationship with Africa. The Africa that will never let go of me.
