"This publication presents a methodology for participative informal settlement upgrading with the support of information technology, the result of research and development activities carried out by UNCHS (Habitat) and a group of partners. Examining a number of experiences in the field, and through direct support to specific tool development activities, Habitat aims to consolidate a wealth of practical and field experiences into a methodological framework. The methodology refers to the project preparation phase, including community involvement protocols, and the information management system related to it. This methodology should be seen as a practical reference framework for programme managers and officials involved in designing and managing settlement upgrading projects and should assist policy makers and external support agencies in policy formulation and resource allocation. It will also provide a technical background to the Global Campaigns for Secure Tenure and for Good Urban Governance that UNCHS (Habitat) is launching in the year 2000"--p. 3.

The Miracle of Hospitality
In his introduction, Fr. Julián Carrón asks: "Why is hospitality a miracle? It seems like something we should take for granted-opening the door of our home and letting someone in should be normal." And yet, he notes, "it is so exceptional that when it happens, everyone is amazed." In the talks and interviews collected in The Miracle of Hospitality, Fr. Luigi Giussani, founder of the international lay movement Communion and Liberation (CL), delves into the source of this miracle-the free gift we call charity. He writes: "Only if we are aware that we are loved-with clarity or confusion, implicitly or explicitly-can we love, which means to embrace, to welcome within us, and to share." Fr. Giussani's words were shaped by a long-running dialogue with the Welcoming Families Association, an organization that emerged out of the lived experience of CL and which has for many years promoted foster care and adoption, as well as support for migrants, the elderly, and the disabled. Given the ever-present phenomena of war, mass migration, and the many threats facing millions of children today, the miracle of hospitality is more urgently needed than ever.

Este libro aborda la infertilidad en todas sus dimensiones, respondiendo a las preguntas que toda pareja infértil se hace: ¿qué nos ocurre? ¿por qué nos ocurre? Y, lo más importante, ¿cómo podemos superarlo? La Medicina, la Epidemiología, la Psicología, el Derecho tienen la respuesta. Sin embargo, solo la Bioética nos ayudará a responder a la pregunta que, desde el nacimiento del primer bebé probeta en 1978, no podemos eludir: ¿cómo podemos superarlo éticamente? Casi una década después, la Iglesia y la sociedad española responden: la primera con la Declaración Donum vitae y, la segunda, con la Ley 35/1988 sobre técnicas de reproducción asistida. Sus objetos de interés son muy diferentes: la Iglesia defiende la vida humana naciente y la dignidad de la procreación, y la sociedad hacer realidad los deseos genésicos de las parejas. Dos propuestas que parecen irreconciliables. Este libro presenta una propuesta ética cristiana que permita el diálogo con la sociedad, poniendo su objeto de interés en la realidad de la pareja infértil y su legítimo deseo genésico.
