Incidents at Moore Field School

Incidents at Moore Field School, the second book of the series set at Moore Field School in England, begins where Moore Field School and the Mystery left off. The mystery of the missing trophies continues as the students wonder what they can do to get the school's trophies back. The head of the school, Miss Moore, used to attend the old school at the site, and has friends who have died. They turn out to be the ghosts that students Samantha and Jessica have been talking to. Meanwhile, another student named Olivia is worried about her dad, because he once again announces he won't be home until Easter at the earliest, which lets Olivia down. The men that are after the trophy realise this and use Olivia's father as bait to get what they want. Olivia finds out about what her father has done and that he wants to put things right. Incidents ends on a cliffhanger.

The first two books in the series are Moore Field School and the Mystery, and Incidents at Moore Field School. Even though most of the trophies are recovered at the end of the trilogy, there could still be more adventures in store at Moore Field School.

It starts typically enough. A camping trip with a friend's family, with a campfire to sit around and tell scary stories - except Rosie's dad says this one is true. According to legend, the house across the lake hosts a strange curse, a missing daughter and a threat that anyone who ventures close will meet the same fate. Rosie and Jenny shrug the story off, but as events escalate, it becomes crystal clear that the curse is real and someone else is the next target. Although they try to deny the truth, a note from an unlikely source confirms their deepest fears. Lies unravel, allies form and the truth about what happened back then threatens to come to light. But one answer remains shrouded, haunting all involved: Will they escape the mist before it comes for them or are they doomed to be lost forever?

Beggar's Feast

Beggar's Feast is a novel about a man who lives in defiance of fate. Sam Kandy was born in 1889 to low prospects in a Ceylon village and died one hundred years later as the wealthy headman of the same village, a self-made shipping magnate, and father of sixteen, three times married and twice widowed. In four parts, this enthralling novel tells Sam's story from his boyhood—when his parents, convinced by his horoscope that he would be a blight upon the family, abandon him at the gates of a distant temple—through his dramatic escape from the temple and journey across Ceylon to Australia and Singapore, before his bold return to the Ceylon village he once called home. There he tries to win recognition for his success in the world—at any cost. A novel about family, pride, and ambition, about what it takes for one man to make something out of nothing, set on a gorgeous, troubled island caught between tradition and modernity, Beggar's Feast establishes Boyagoda as a major voice in international literature.

Treachery and Triumph - An Anthology of World War II Stories

WAR? DEATH AND DESTRUCTION? VIOLENCE, HATRED, INEXPRESSIBLE GRIEF? PEOPLES PITTED AGAINST EACH OTHER, TO THE DEATH? WHY ON EARTH SHOULD I WANT TO READ ABOUT IT? THERE’S ENOUGH IN THE MEDIA EVERY DAY, SURELY? YES: BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT. The stories in this Anthology aim to give a vivid insight, through a fascinating mixture of history, reminiscence and fiction, into life during WWII: for those at the front, those left behind, the young at school, the old in the twilight of their years, parents, lovers, spouses, families, colleagues; Britons, Germans, Irish, Kenyans, French, eastern Europeans and Americans (plus the odd ‘undesirable alien’!). These pages see householders struggling to ma...
