Murder at the St. Louis Worlds Fair

When construction workers begin to demolish the temporary buildings of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, they discover a mummy incased in an obelisk of the Palace of Mines and Metallurgy. Lt. Harrigan immediately responds to the call and is shocked to learn the deceased is Texas Ranger Henry Jones, whom he'd briefly met three years before. Investigations reveal Jones's connection with the St. Louis World's Fair general manager, Konrad Meirs, and a private rivalry between Meirs and his brother-in-law, Paul Rheinholtz—a gambler with Sicilian mafia connections. Harrigan also uncovers why Jones traveled to St. Louis without his partner Thomas Brown those last few days of his life. A ranger's life is never free from danger, especially when he's hunting renown bank robber, Ben Kilpatrick, but could Jones's murder have been strategically planned by those closest to him? Or was he simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? Join J. C. R. and Sally A. Forehand as they lead you back in time to investigate the Murder at the St. Louis World's Fair in this twisting tale of robbery, vengeance, and deceit.

Fascism, Anti-Fascism, and the Resistance in Italy

While the historical significance of fascism and anti-fascism is still being hotly debated in Europe and around the world, this anthology offers a new look at the many faces of repression and resistance. Stanislao G. Pugliese brings together a wide range of voices that illuminate more than eighty years of fascism and anti-fascism in Italy. Many of the pieces, including letters from women to Mussolini and anti-fascist graffiti from a Nazi prison in Rome, are available in English for the first time. The selections include historical documents, political analysis, stories, songs, and memoirs from a variety of perspectives. Taken together, the documents provide a compelling account of the political, historical, economic, and social impact of fascism and the resistance. Touching on fields as far ranging as political science, history, women's studies, and religion, Fascism, Anti-Fascism, and the Resistance in Italy is immediate, human, and eminently readable.

Autophagy (“auto-digestion”), a lysosome-dependent process, degrades and turns over damaged or senescent organelles and proteins. Autophagy is a highly regulated process that impacts several vital cellular responses, including inflammation, cell death, energy metabolism, and homeostasis of organelles (mitochondria and others). Although the role of autophagy in the maintenance of tissue homeostasis is well documented, its role during tissue injury and regeneration is still emerging. In this Special Issue on “Autophagy in Tissue Injury and Homeostasis”, we focus on the roles of autophagy in systemic, specific tissue (organs/cells) injury or organ failure associated with sepsis, inflammation, metabolic disorder, toxic chemicals, ischemia-reperfusion injury, hypoxic oxidative stress, tissue fibrosis, trauma, and nutrient starvation. The knowledge gained from the identification and characterization of new molecular mechanisms will shed light on biomedical applications for tissue protection through the modulation of autophagy.
