The compendium is a compilation of research papers, covering various aspects of mycorrhiza, presented at the National Conference on Mycorrhiza held at Barkatullah University, Bhopal. There, the contributors come from different field of research have discussed - in recent future it will be possible the application of mycorrhizal inoculum in large-scale by developing cost-effective technology. Also demonstrations of the use of mycorrhizal-technology have to be carried out in farmer's field and forest nurseries to show the benefits of mycorrhiza in enhancing plant growth and reducing chemical fertilizer use in cultivation practices. The departments, companies and NGOs involved in afforestation and agricultural activities are advised to include eco-friendly mycorrhizal-technology in their programmes, thus, helping in reducing the use of chemicals. In an effort to promote agro-enterprises and agro-industries as viable forms of inclusive development, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and The Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development (CIIFAD) in collaboration with the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), organized an international symposium on the topic “Innovative Institutions, Public Policies, and Private Strategies for Inclusive Agro-Enterprise Development”, as part of the Triennial Meetings of the IAAE held in Foz do lguaçu, Brazil, in August 2012.This book contains the major papers presented at the symposium, which feature a wide range of country and regional experiences and examine the influence of markets and technology transfer to agro-enterprises on food security, poverty, and economic growth. This book highlights the approaches for achieving trans-disciplinary research integration for “semi-arid dryland agriculture systems” under changing climates, while also identifying the elements of a collaborative research agenda that are needed to advance global food security. The book emphasizes climate change being a reality and how drylands are bearing the brunt in diverse ways. The major impact of dryland agriculture is on communities that need to: avoid the short- and long-term impacts of the changing climate; adapt strategies that can minimize these impacts; and be able to mitigate climate change, for which they need climate smart interventions. These interventions are only realized through knowledge and experience sharing among stakeholders from different sectors and backgrounds.
