La ardilla de Braque
Una nueva y meditada reflexión sobre el arte, su historia y varios de sus protagonistas. Picasso fue a visitar a Braque en su estudio. El pintor trabajaba un bodegón. De prontoel malagueño exclamó: «¡ Pobre amigo! Veo una ardilla en tu lienzo». Braque respondió sorprendido : «No es posible». Picasso insistió: «Quizá sea una visión paranoica, pero veo una ardilla. El lienzo está destinado a ser un cuadro y no una ilusión óptica; la gente necesita ver algo en él. Tú representas un paquete de tabaco junto a una pipa, pero aparta de ahí esa ardilla». Braque llegó a ver laardilla y luchó encarnizadamente con ella, hasta que, al fin, el tabaco, la pipa y los naipes se transformaron en un cuadro cubista. Esta anécdota, apenas conocida, sirve a J. F. Yvars para dar título a esta nueva selección de textos. Insiste en el análisis de la obra de arte desde diferentes perspectivas y ayuda a descifrar el trabajo y la personalidad de figuras cardinales: Julio González, David Smith, Aby Warburg, entre otros.
