Managing Testimony and Administrating Victims
This book analyzes the implementation of Law 975 in Colombia, known as the Justice and Peace Law, and proposes a critical view of the transitional scenario in Colombia from 2005 onwards. The author analyzes three aspects of the law: 1) The process of negotiation with paramilitary groups; 2) The constitution of the Group Memoria Histórica (Historic Memory) in Colombia and 3) The process of a 2007 law that was finally not passed. The book contains interviews with key actors in the justice and peace process in Colombia. The author analyses the contradictions, tensions, ambiguities and paradoxes that define the practices of such actors. This book highlights that a critical view of this kind of transitional scenario is indispensable to determine steps towards a just and peaceful society.

Public policy discussions are, at any time, a major issue in any government, since they are a fundamental part of government agendas and the main mechanism for the realization of human and social rights. Brazil is a country that has a growing importance in the international arena, especially for its environmental and cultural riches, making it a country of extreme geopolitical relevance. Nevertheless, issues such as security, hunger, education, health, transportation, and democracy are constantly put to the test in the face of its development, size, and conflicts.Therefore, this work aims to bring important reflections on this theme, analyzing the public policies regarding labor and human rights. And in the midst of this, social policies must function as tools to realize human rights and restore balance. It is a great book for understanding better the labor environment in Brazil and how it is affecting human rights safeguard.
Ecological and Health Risk of Soils, Sediments, and Water Contamination
The papers in this SI present valuable results in the topics of soils, sediments, and water contamination according to the consideration of ecological and health risk. They also point out open questions and possible avenues for future research. Biochar application can benefit both soil conservation and contamination, but further research should be conducted to investigate whether these positive effects can be extended to the field scale. Similar to biochar, scale-up design will be helpful for thin-layer capping in in situ sediments using mixed active amendments. Both physiochemical analysis and bioassays mutually supported the evaluation results of river water quality. However, we need better approaches and policies for management to prevent further contamination from the discharge of untreated industrial and domestic waste into this aquatic ecosystem. The use of microorganisms to eliminate antibiotics is a promising strategy, but future work should verify the biodegradation ability of antibiotic-degrading bacteria in wastewater treatment plants.

Tem como principal objetivo contribuir para a formação profissional, no campo das terapias cognitivas e neurociências clinicas, ao apresentar questões importantes para subsidiar a discussão e a prática profissional. A obra foi estruturada a partir de projetos de pesquisa, extensão e práticas terapêuticas desenvolvidos por membros e colaboradores do LAPECC- UFPB.
