Building Simulation Applications BSA 2013
Building Simulation applications 2013 was the first IBPSA Italy regional conference on building performance simulation. The two-day event focused on three main subjects: simulation of building performance, actual perspectives in building physics and simulation tools. The principal mission is to promote and advance the practice of building performance simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation and maintenance of new and existing buildings.

Building Simuation Applications BSA 2015
Building Simulation applications (BSA) 2015 was the second IBPSA-Italy conference on building performance simulation to take place at the Free University of Bolzano, from February 4th to 6th 2015. The main topics dealt with were: detailed modelling of phenomena and components, integrated and non-energy performance analysis, optimization techniques for high performance buildings and retrofit, and development and validation of new tools. The principal mission of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) is to promote and advance the practice of building performance simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation and maintenance of new and existing buildings. IBPSA-Italy is the Italian regional affiliate, a non-profit-making association, which includes researchers, developers and practitioners acting on the topic of building performance simulation. IBPSA-Italy was founded in January 2011 and has now more than 140 members including university professors, researchers, professionals, software developers and students.
Sustainable Water Management and Wetland Restoration Strategies in Northern China
This book depicts the results of a research project in northern China, where an international and interdisciplinary team of researchers from Italy, Germany and China has applied a broad range of methodology in order to answer basic and applied research questions and derive comprehensive recommendations for sustainable water management and wetland restoration. The project primarily focused on ecosystem services, e.g. the purification of water and biomass production. In particular, the ecosystem function and use of reed (Phragmites australis) and the perception as well as the value of water as a resource for Central Asia's multicultural societies was analysed.
Sewage Treatment
Sewage is mainly a liquid waste containing some solids, produced by humans. It typically consists of washing water, faeces, urine, laundry waste and other material which goes down drains and toilets from households and industry. Sewage sludge is an end product of the wastewater treatment process. This material can be a wonderful source of nutrients for the soil. This book provides current studies and research on the treatment and use of sewage. Using this material as a fertiliser can benefit the environment by turning wastes into valuable resources. These sludges would otherwise have to be disposed of by landfilling, lagooning, incineration, or ocean dumping. On the other hand, heavy metals sometimes found in sewage sludge may present environmental problems as there is filtration of metals towards the aquifers which get contaminated.
