Discover the Greatness in You

Modern-day philosophers Milton Willis and Michael Willis believe that there is greatness within each of us. It may take courage and perseverance to uncover it, but it's there...waiting to be discovered. "Struggle, sacrifice, and humility are the building blocks for all greatness." This is a book about putting yourself out there, taking chances, and living the life you've always wanted. It:s about having a clear vision, a positive mindset, and the unwavering commitment to never give up. It's about believing that anything is possible. "Above all, learn to trust yourself and your intuition. Listen closely to the voice inside you." The Willis brothers use the skills and knowledge they've learned surfing the world's largest waves to show you how you can develop the willpower to win, achieve a lifetime dream, and exceed all expectations. With their compelling words of wisdom, they challenge you to discover your own greatness and become the person you are meant to be. "Reward is not found in fortune and fame but rather in realizing a dream."

The Lara Family

For much of the Middle Ages, the Lara family was among the most powerful aristocratic lineages in Spain. Proteges of the monarchy at the time of El Cid, their influence reached extraordinary heights during the struggle against the Moors. Hand-in-glove with successive kings, they gathered an impressive array of military and political positions across the Iberian Peninsula. But cooperation gave way to confrontation, as the family was pitted against the crown in a series of civil wars. This book, the first modern study of the Laras, explores the causes of change in the dynamics of power, and narrates the dramatic story of the events that overtook the family. The Laras' militant quest for territorial strength and the conflict with the monarchy led toward a fatal end, but anticipated a form of aristocratic power that long outlived the family. The noble elite would come to dominate Spanish society in the coming centuries, and the Lara family provides important lessons for students of the history of nobility, monarchy, and power in the medieval and early modern world.

Back in 1994 at the game company ‘CORE Design’ in Derby, Lara Croft was born. Through eighteen months of pure hard work from the team, Tomb Raider was released in 1996 and became the success that we see today; taking part in the mid-nineties celebrations of Brit-Pop and Girl Power. This is the story of the team who were involved in creating the first two games, then leaving the series to a new team in 1998. Lara Croft brought class, comedy, and a James Bondian role to the game, dreamt up by Toby Gard and helped to become a pitch with Paul Douglas. The game was a gamble, but because everyone at the company believed in it, it led to huge success for everyone, except for Toby and Paul. ‘T...

Looking at a wide selection of Pakistani novels in English, this book explores how literary texts imaginatively probe the past, convey the present, and project a future in terms that facilitate a sense of collective belonging. The novels discussed cover a range of historical movements and developments, including pre-20th century Islamic history, the 1947 partition, the 1971 Pakistani war, the Zia years, and post-9/11 Pakistan, as well as pervasive themes, including ethnonationalist tensions, the zamindari system, and conspiracy thinking. The book offers a range of representations of how and whether collective belonging takes shape, and illustrates how the Pakistani novel in English, often ov...

Sarah and Abraham (Abe) Klein lived ordinary lives for most of their existence. There were the ups and downs, money troubles, sickness, and disappointments, but nothing uncommon. It changed in their golden years. They'd become wards of the court, so to speak, or, better said, pawns in the struggle between their daughter, Abigail and son-in-law, Zaki. In the process, they'd lose their freedom and their lives. Supported financially by their daughter, and living under her roof, they became the subjects of pity. They also became defenseless in the face of attack by their son-in-law. From: PEACEFUL LIVES STRETCHED TO THE END So begins one of Elias Sassoon's stories in The Sassoon Society. Sassoon is often humorous, usually thoughtful, and always entertaining in these enchanting tales.

Apheresis refers to an extracorporeal therapy which aims at removing pathological constituents from the patients’ blood. Due to the development of new techniques as well as the discovery of novel autoimmune antibodies, it is increasingly recognized as an important therapeutic option for a variety of autoimmune-mediated neurological disorders, including multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, autoimmune encephalitis, Guillain–Barré syndrome, and many others. Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) constitutes the standard method of apheresis for most indications, while immunoadsorption (IA) offers a more specific, low-risk alternative. Both methods aim at removing auto-antibodies from the blood. Evidence for most neurological diseases is still low. Interestingly, more recent developments suggest that apheresis is not limited to the removal of autoantibodies but may also be useful in neurodegenerative and possibly even in acute vascular disorders.

In the days that follow, further people arrive there, each seeking someone or something. The stories and histories that unfold, interweaving and overlapping, span nearly a quarter of a century and tell of the terrible afflictions that have plagued Afghanistan—as well of the love that can blossom during war and conflict.
