Vestal
The town of Vestal has evolved over generations, from the quiet days of Native Americans fishing along the Susquehanna River to the bustling, dynamic community that it is today. Established in 1823 from the town of Union, Vestal began as a lumbering and farming town whose population later flourished with the introduction of mills, factories, and tanneries. In 1901, a train wreck caused five tons of dynamite to explode near the center of town, and in 1927, a fire destroyed most of the business district. Still the town persevered and rebuilt, and by the mid-20th century, Vestal grew again, becoming home to the employees of industrial powerhouses across the river. After years of progress, the town of Vestal continues to redefine itself and shape the course of its own history.
Around Binghamton
The Greater Binghamton area's undulating history mirrors that of its terrain. The area has evolved from a transportation center to a hub of manufacturing and technology and, with the expansion of Binghamton University and SUNY Broome Community College, a growing center of erudition. First, canal boats and trains dominated the landscape, then, cigars were produced in abundance, followed by shoes, simulators, and computers. Now, with Binghamton University expanding into downtown, student housing, breweries, and eateries fill Binghamton's streets. The area has earned the monikers "Parlor City," "Carousel Capital of the World," "Sports Mecca," and the "City of Festivals." Binghamton's cultural legacy is rich; besides being the home of professional baseball, bicycling, golf, hockey, running, and tennis, Binghamton's annual celebrations have included Mural Fest, July Fest, Spiedie Fest, and Luma Fest.
Davis
Charles Davies (b.ca. 1706) emigrated from England to Philadelphia, and married Hannah Matson in 1732/1733. Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname Davis) and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

Town of Owego
The town of Owego was organized on March 14, 1800. As with most of the small towns along the Susquehanna River, agriculture and lumber were the first major industries and continue to thrive today. The river was central to the town's development, with steamboats constructed on its banks carrying thousands of happy excursionists to Hiawatha Island to spend the day picnicking, dancing, and bowling at the island hotel. A number of farms disappeared in the 1950s, giving way to housing developments constructed to accommodate a huge workforce brought in by International Business Machines, a company that chose Owego's picturesque hillside as the building site of its military products plant. The town of Owego has managed to balance high technology with the rural ambiance that has defined it for centuries, and each of its six hamlets continues to take pride in their history.

A genealogy of the descendants of Jesse Hoskins born about 1741. He married Mary A. in Washington Co., North Carolina. They had 10 children. They were living in Green County, Tennessee in 1789.

Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of Halbert McClure. He was born in 1684 in County Donegal. He married Agnes in 1707. She was born ca. 1690. They were the parents of six children. They immigrated to America ca. 1736.
