Semi-solid metal (SSM) processing, as a viable alternative manufacturing route to those of conventional casting and forging, has not yet been fully exploited despite nearly half a century since its introduction to the metal industry. The slow pace of adopting SSM routes may be due to various reasons, including capital costs, profit margins, and, most importantly, the lack of detailed analysis of various SSM processes in open literature to confidently establish their advantages over more conventional routes. In the industrial manufacturing of metals, the achievement of products featuring desired characteristics always requires the control of process parameters in order to obtain a suitable microstructure. The strict relationship among process parameters, microstructure, and mechanical properties is a matter of interest in different areas, such as foundry, plastic forming, sintering, welding, etc., and regards both well-established and innovative processes. Nowadays, circular economy and sustainable technological development are dominant paradigms and impose an optimized use of resources, a lower energetic impact of industrial processes and new tasks for materials and products. What Is BCI2000? BCI2000 is a general-purpose software platform for brain–computer interface (BCI) research. It can also be used for a wide variety of data acquisition, stimulus p- sentation, and brain monitoring applications. BCI2000 has been in development since 2000 in a project led by the Brain–Computer Interface R&D Program at the Wadsworth Center of the New York State Department of Health in Albany, New York, USA, with substantial contributions by the Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Tübingen, Germany. In addition, many laboratories around the world, most notably the BrainLab at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and Fondazione Santa Lucia in Rome, Italy, have also played an important role in the project’s development. Mission The mission of the BCI2000 project is to facilitate research and the development of applications in all areas that depend on real-time acquisition, processing, and feedback of biosignals. Vision Our vision is that BCI2000 will become a widely used software tool for diverse areas of research and development.

In this book, Ondřej Schmidt offers a critical biography of John of Moravia, illegitimate son of the Moravian Margrave John Henry from the Luxembourg dynasty. Earlier research has confused John with another son of the Margrave, but here, the author argues that John actually became provost of Vyšehrad (1368–1380), bishop of Litomyšl (1380–1387), and eventually patriarch of Aquileia (1387–1394). The study provides a detailed account of John’s life and his assassination in the wider context of princely bastards’ careers, the Luxembourg dynasty, and Czech and Italian history. Schmidt also explores the development of the “second life” of John of Moravia in the historical memory of the following centuries. First published in Czech by Vyšehrad Publishers Ltd as Jan z Moravy.
