Civil Liability for Accidents at Sea
This book presents a study on civil liability for accidents at sea, with a focus on the interests of parties that are not contractually participating in the maritime enterprise. Shipping and the maritime offshore industry are among the most international businesses in the world, and the operation of ships and facilities at sea can involve very different interests in a wide variety of relationships. Although there is an international legal framework that covers the most frequent types of cases, questions remain regarding the interplay of international and national legislation. Addressing those questions, the first part of this study analyses the rules and the limits of international regulation applicable at sea, namely regarding compensation for pollution damage. The second part focuses on the jurisdictional rules and conflict-of-law rules that may be used to deal with cases beyond the scope of international legislation, in accordance with the law of the sea.

Paratexts in Translation
As something that surrounds, extends, and presents a text to the world, the phenomenon of paratext is gaining more and more attention within the discipline of Translation Studies. This edited volume, with contributions by five Nordic scholars, aims to build on that attention by presenting five case studies on paratexts in translations into Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish. A special focus lies on the paratextual mechanisms at play when works from different source cultures are translated into a Nordic target context. The translated works under scrutiny belong to genres such as literary novels, non-fiction works, and religious texts, and the paratexts surveyed include footnotes, covers, blurbs, introductions, and literary reviews. The scholars represented in the volume all work in Translation Studies, or at the intersection between Translation Studies and other disciplines.
Globalizing the Avant-Garde
How has the process of globalization shaped artistic practices on the one hand, and art history and theory on the other? The contributions in this volume approach this question from a range of perspectives, taking into account the role of travel, for example, or practitioners’ increasing knowledge of other cultures, art’s increasing awareness of itself as existing on a global level, literary translation, the advance of technology, and the ever-changing grand narratives of art history. As well as reflections on European avant-gardes and neo-avant-gardes, the collection features discussions of Japan, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. As a whole, the volume engages with broader current discourses about cultural globalization, and features input from leading scholars around the world as well as some important novel interventions by early-career researchers. The authors not only make a major contribution to the evolution of avant-garde studies, but also offer valuable, original points of view to art history and to the cultural theory of globalization more broadly.
