Applications of Evolutionary Computing
This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of eight European workshops on the Theory and Applications of Evolutionary Computation, EvoWorkshops 2008, held in Naples, Italy, in March 2008 within the scope of the EvoStar 2008 event. The 57 revised full papers and 18 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 133 submissions. In accordance with the eight workshops covered, the papers are organized in topical sections on application of nature-inspired techniques to telecommunication networks and other connected systems, evolutionary computation in finance and economics, bio-inspired heuristics for design automation, evolutionary computation in image analysis and signal processing, evolutionary and biologically inspired music, sound, art and design, bio-inspired algorithms for continuous parameter optimization, evolutionary algorithms in stochastic and dynamic environments, theory and applications of evolutionary computation, and on evolutionary computation in transportation and logistics.
Network Optimization
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Network Optimization, INOC 2011, held in Hamburg, Germany, in June 2011. The 65 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers highlight recent developments in network optimization and are organized in the following topical sections: theoretical problems, uncertainty, graph theory and network design; network flows; routing and transportation; and further optimization problems and applications (energy oriented network design, telecom applications, location, maritime shipping, and graph theory).

Applications of Evolutionary Computation

Operations Research Proceedings 2005
This volume contains a selection of 128 papers presented in lectures during the international scientific symposium "Operations Research 2005" (OR 2005) held at the University of Bremen, September 7-9, 2005. This international conference took place under the auspices of the German Operations Research Society (GOR). The symposium had about 600 participants from countries all over the world. Operations Research Proceedings 2010
This book contains selected papers from the symposium "Operations Research 2010" which was held from September 1-3, 2010 at the "Universität der Bundeswehr München", Germany. The international conference, which also serves as the annual meeting of the German Operations Research Society (GOR), attracted more than 600 participants from more than thirty countries. The general theme "Mastering Complexity" focusses on a natural component of the globalization process. Financial markets, traffic systems, network topologies and, last but not least, energy resource management, all contain complex behaviour and economic interdependencies which necessitate a scientific solution. Operations Research is one of the key instruments to model, simulate and analyze such systems. In the process of developing optimal solutions, suitable heuristics and efficient procedures are some of the challenges which are discussed in this volume.
