This work includes the ancestral families of Maxey Lee Blaydes, the author's husband. The relationships of many of his ancestral families of Spotssylvania County, Virginia, which was formed from Essex, King and Queen, and King William Counties in 1720-21, are described. Several ancestors are traced back to the early 15th century, England.

Claiborne of Virginia
William Claiborne was born in 1600 in Crayford, Kent, England. His parents were Thomas Clayborne and Sarah Smythe James. He immigrated to America in 1621 and settled in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Butler in about 1635. They had six children. He died in 1679. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama and elsewhere.

Genealogy of the Lewis Family in America
Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of John Lewis. He was born in Donegal County, Ireland 1678 to Andrew Lewis and Mary Calhoun. He married Margaret Lynn. He died in Virginia 1 Feb 1762. They were the parents of seven children.
