Infrared and Millimeter Waves, Volume 11: Millimeter Components and Techniques, Part III compiles the work of several authors while focusing on certain aspects of infrared and millimeter waves, such as sources of radiation, instrumentation, and millimeter systems. This volume covers millimeter components and techniques. The first chapter is a review of indium phosphide and gallium arsenide transferred-electron devices, while the next chapter covers nonradiative dielectric waveguide. The present volume of the Gmelin thorium series describes the solid thorium-carbon compounds with the exception of the carbides and coordination compounds of the type 4 ThAn· X B, where B is a neutral ligand. The complex equilibria of the Th + ion with C-containing complexing agents are treated in the ThD1 volume. The present Second Supplement updates the Index by inclusion of the volumes which appeared until the end of 1987. With this Second Supplement all compounds described in the Gmelin Handbook of Inorganic Chemistry in the period between 1922 and 1987 can be located. The basic structure of the Formula Index remained the same as in the previous editions. The cumulated contents of the Index and its Supplements are contained in the Gmelin Formula Index (GFI) database which is available to the scientific community via STN. This database will be update regularly to reflect the published Handbook volumes as close as possible. Volume 4 of the 2nd Supplement contains 11.730 entries and covers the empirical formulas beginning with the symbols C7 to C11.4.
Mn Manganese
Of system-number "Manganese", Part B, which de- scribes the Element Manganese, has been completed. Also completed is Part C, describing the compounds, with 10 volumes. Part A will present the history and occurence of manganese. Volume A 1 on the history has already been published, the other volumes dealing with occurence of manganese are in preparation. Part D is devoted to the coordination compounds. Part D 1, D 2, D 3, D 4, D 5 and D 6 thereof are already available. The present volume "Manganese D 7" continues the description of the coordination compounds. Complexes with nitriles, with nitro-hydrocarbons, and with ligands containing sulfur, selenium or tellurium are described. Many of the coordination compounds containing sulfur are of analytical or biological interest. A formula index lists the ligands and the empirical formulas.
Fe Organoiron Compounds Part B14
Volume Organoiron Compounds B 14 systematically covers the literature through the end of 1986 and includes most references from 1987 and some from 1988. The volume continues Series B (volumes B 1 to B 13 already published) on mononuclear organoiron compounds. Series A (volumes A 1 to A 8 already published) is devoted to the ferrocenes and Series C (volumes C 1 to C 5 and C 7 already published) treats organoiron compounds with two or more Fe atoms in the molecule. The present volume completes the description of C5H5Fe(CO)2R compounds. The volume is completed by a formula and ligand index covering both volumes B 13 and B 14.
