O PODER NA ALDEIA
No presente artigo, analisam-se aspectos da realidade sócio-cultural de um dos núcleos coloniais fundados no centro do estado do Rio Grande do Sul nas últimas décadas do século XIX. Parte-se da trajetória de um padre imigrante – Antônio Sório – para perceber quais foram as estratégias acionadas que lhe garantiram inserção e mobilidade social na comunidade de adoção. Durante o período em que permaneceu entre os conterrâneos, Sório construiu patrimônio de relações imateriais que lhe permitiram alcançar status na região. No entanto, em janeiro de 1900, o pároco veio a falecer após ter sido encontrado ferido numa das estradas da comunidade de Silveira Martins, surgindo suspeitas entre a população de ter sido ele vítima de uma emboscada. As redes relacionais da família Sório atuaram no sentido de garantir o controle sobre os eventos locais, bem como preservar certa tranquilidade ao impedir que fosse aberta investigação policial para apurar os motivos do falecimento do pároco.
