These pages have been written by authors from the five continents fro March to May 2020, and they make up an emotional X-ray of what they were thinking and feeling while faced by a threat to their own lives. Artists, teachers, mayors, pensioners, ambassadors, homemakers, diplomats, writers, jobless, nurses... of all ages and origins, they all string their words together and write about love, fear, family, time or future. There are some who express themselves with a poem, an entry in a diary, a story or a critical reflection; and others with an illustration or a photograph. Together they create an intimate and diverse testimony of how a pandemic, the one in 2020, changed who we are as human beings.

This book provides two types of arguments: (1) personal, because aging affects each and every one of us, and (2) those related to the new labor culture, which are generated by the management of this talent, and the equality and the diversity based on age criteria that is extended in those referenced countries because of their healthcare systems, but is new to Spain. Thanks to this book, we can verify this practice in light of the absence of responsible active aging and social action programs in large businesses.
Literary naturalism, within the Hispanic context, has traditionally been read as a graphic realist school or movement linked predominantly to late nineteenth century literary production. The essays in Au Naturel: (Re)Reading Hispanic Naturalism—written by scholars from different generations, nationalities and ideological backgrounds—propose a major revisionist contribution to the study of Hispanic naturalism.
