Ideology
Part of a series of introductory books on cultural studies, this text introduces the concept of ideology and how it may be used in an analysis of cultural products for students of cultural studies and related topics. Opening chapters give a brief overview of the subject, defining ideology with reference to the ideas of major theorists such as Althusser and Gramsci. A general method is then developed for undertaking the ideological analysis of text, context and audience - a procedure which can be applied to any cultural product chosen for examination in any medium.
