Remembering 1759
This companion volume to Revisiting 1759 examines how the Conquest of Canada has been remembered, commemorated, interpreted, and reinterpreted by groups in Canada, France, Great Britain, the United States, and most of all, in Quebec. It focuses particularly on how the public memory of the Conquest has been used for a variety of cultural, political, and intellectual purposes. The essays contained in this volume investigate topics such as the legacy of 1759 in twentieth-century Quebec; the memorialization of General James Wolfe in a variety of national contexts; and the re-imagination of the Plains of Abraham as a tourist destination. Combined with Revisiting 1759, this collection provides readers with the most comprehensive, wide-ranging assessment to date of the lasting effects of the Conquest of Canada.

Names of Foreigners Who Took the Oath of Allegiance to the Province and State of Pennsylvania, 1727-1775. with the Foreign Arrivals, 1786-1808
In 1727, the Pennsylvania Provincial Council passed a law requiring all "foreign" immigrants (i.e. those of non-British origin) to swear an oath of allegiance to the Crown. Lists of these immigrants were originally assembled for publication in the Pennsylvania Archives (Ser. 2, Vol. XVII), and they are reprinted here without change. This work, then, is an exhaustive list of "foreigners"-mostly Germans-who immigrated into the Province and, later, the State of Pennsylvania between the years 1727 and 1775 and again during the years 1786-1808. More to the point, it is a collection of ships' passenger lists, in many cases the lists being transcribed in entirety, with Captains' lists of passengers running up to the relatively late year of 1808. Along with the full name of the immigrant, including the names of all males over the age of sixteen, since that was the age they were obliged to take the oath, such information is given as name of ship, date of arrival, port of origin, and, in some instances, ages, names of wives, and names of children. An exhaustive index of surnames, running to more than 100 pages, contains about 35,000 references.
Quebec-Ontario Relations
Ontario-Quebec relations have flourished in recent years. Environmental and economic agreements have proliferated (infrastructure, trade, investment, labour mobility) and a total of three joint provincial -cabinet meetings were held between 2008, 2009, and 2010. These closer ties provide a good opportunity to reflect on the provinces' shared destiny. Our objective in this book is to contribute to the body of knowledge on -Ontario-Quebec relations and spark renewed interest among researchers on this topic.Our methodology combines historical and comparative approaches. The first part focuses specifically on the origin and current state of relations between the two provinces. It offers a "big picture" view of interprovincial relations from a number of perspectives (political, economic, social, and public policy). The second part compares key public policy issues in the provinces in a wide range of fields. The analyses provided illustrate the similarities and differences between Ontario and Quebec, and provide a better understanding of the issues and policies that affect Ontario-Quebec relations."

The Lost Wave
The first women entered national government in Italy in 1946, and represented a "lost wave" of feminist action.
