Plumer's Principles and Practice of Infusion Therapy

The Ninth Edition of Plumer's Principles and Practice of Infusion Therapy provides clear, concise coverage of basic and advanced infusion procedures. Rely on this new edition for the most current coverage of intravenous therapy function, procedures, standards, and equipment, along with practical new features and emphasis on safety considerations, as well as evidence-based practice. The book begins with an overview of IV therapy, including how to minimize risk and enhance performance, and then addresses assessment and monitoring;clinical decision making; patient specific therapies, and infusion therapy for children, the elderly, and across the continuum of care.

Magnetic Systems With Competing Interactions

This book is intended for postgraduate students as well as researchers in various areas of physics such as statistical physics, magnetism and materials sciences. The content of the book covers mainly frustrated spin systems with possible applications in domains where physical systems can be mapped into the spin language. Pedagogical effort has been made to make each chapter to be self-contained, comprehensible for researchers who are not really involved in the field. Basic methods are given in detail.

Computer Simulation Studies in Condensed-Matter Physics VIII

Computer Simulation Studies in Condensed-Matter Physics VIII covers recent developments in this field presented at the 1995 workshop, such as new algorithms, methods of analysis, and conceptual developments. This volume is composed of three parts. The first part contains invited papers that deal with simulational studies of classical systems. The second part is devoted to invited papers on quantum systems, including new results for strongly correlated electron and quantum spin models. The final part comprises contributed presentations.

Spin Dynamics in Confined Magnetic Structures II

This second volume of the book on spin dynamics in confined magnetic structures covers central aspects of spin dynamic phenomena, so that researchers can find a comprehensive compilation of the current work in the field. Introductory chapters help newcomers to understand the basic concepts, and the more advanced chapters give the current state of the art for most spin dynamic issues in the milliseconds to femtoseconds range. Both experimental techniques and theoretical work are discussed. The comprehensive presentation of these developments makes this volume very timely and valuable for every researcher working in the field of magnetism. It describes the new experimental techniques which have advanced this field very rapidly. Among the techniques covered, particular attention is given to those involving high temporal, elemental and spatial resolution as well as to techniques involving magnetic field pulses with very short rise times and durations.

Frustrated Spin Systems

This book covers all principal aspects of currently investigated frustrated systems, from exactly solved frustrated models to real experimental frustrated systems, going through renormalization group treatment, Monte Carlo investigation of frustrated classical Ising and vector spin models, low-dimensional systems, spin ice and quantum spin glass. The reader can — within a single book — obtain a global view of the current research development in the field of frustrated systems. This new edition is updated with recent theoretical, numerical and experimental developments in the field of frustrated spin systems. The first edition of the book appeared in 2005. In this edition, more recent wor...

Recent Advances In Magnetism Of Transition Metal Compounds: Festschrift In Honour Of Professor K Motizuki

This book is a Festschrift in honour of Professor Kazuko Motizuki on the occasion of her retirement from Osaka University. She has been active in a variety of branches of solid state physics and, in particular, has made an important contribution to the theory of magnetism. The book reviews recent advances in magnetism of transition metal compounds, both for itinerant electron systems and localized spin systems. For the former systems, band calculational methods, correlation effects, and theoretical aspects of photoemission spectroscopy are reviewed generally, and then recent progress in the theoretical and experimental understanding of magnetic properties of various kinds of intermetallic compounds and intercalation compounds of transition-metal dichalcogenides are reviewed in detail. For the latter systems, attention is focused on quantum effects, frustration and competing interaction in low-dimensional systems. Main subjects treated in the book are Haldane gap-systems, singlet-ground-state systems, triangular spin systems, and quantum spin chains with competing interactions.
