Sabah from the Ground
Sabah's 2020 election was Malaysia's pandemic election. While attention has centred on the impact the election had on the increase of COVID-19, this collection brings together scholars, journalists and social scientists who were on the ground on Sabah to analyse what happened, why, and the broader implications of the outcome for Sabah and Malaysian politics. The book is the first in-depth study of a Sabah election. It is multidisciplinary, with authors from different perspectives, and the majority of the authors are from Sabah. Traditional explanations prioritize the federal-state relationship in shaping Sabah politics. Tema utama buku ini ialah mengenai hubungan Malaysia-Jepun dalam tempoh 1957-1990-an dalam bidang diplomasi, ekonomi dan pendidikan. Dua aspek yang diberi perhatian oleh penulis ialah hubungan diplomasi dan kerjasama dalam bidang pendidikan dan latihan. Hubungan diplomasi yang dimaksudkan turut melibatkan hubungan dua hala dalam aspek ekonomi, perdagangan, pelaburan, bantuan luar dan kerjasama antara kedua-dua negara dan pada peringkat serantau (ASEAN). Sungguhpun begitu, isu ini hanya difokuskan dalam tempoh 1957-1970-an manakala hubungan dan kerjasama Malaysia – Jepun pada tahun 1980-an dan seterusnya lebih tertumpu kepada aspek pendidikan dan latihan. The Qur'an in the Malay-Indonesian World
The largely Arabo-centric approach to the academic study of tafsir has resulted in a lack of literature exploring the diversity of Qur'anic interpretation in other areas of the Muslim-majority world. The essays in The Qur'an in the Malay-Indonesian World resolve this, aiming to expand our knowledge of tafsir and its history in the Malay-Indonesian world. Highlighting the scope of Qur'anic interpretation in the Malay world in its various vernaculars, it also contextualizes this work to reveal its place as part of the wider Islamic world, especially through its connections to the Arab world, and demonstrates the strength of these connections.
