“APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES & ENGINEERINGS”

The Book entitled “Applied Environmental Sciences & Engineerings” is compiled on the basis of the materials gathered during experiences gained over 45 years in the field of EPC by TT of ASNWWW-HHS (Environmental Pollution Control by Testing & Treatment of Air/Stack/Noise/Water/Waste Water-Human Health & Sanitation), based on hunting countless related journals & the numerous books, which in turn, resulting from the illustration of Double Rs: Reasons & Remedies of globally Hot Topics Viz; global warming, climate change, Spread of Pandemic Covid-19.

Topics in Igneous Petrology

The second half of the past century witnessed a remarkable paradigm shift in approach to the understanding of igneous rocks. Global literature records a change from a classical petrographic approach to emphasis on mineral chemistry, trace element characteristics, tectonic setting, phase relations, and theoretical simulation of magma generation and evolution processes. This book contains contributions by international experts in different fields of igneous petrology and presents an overview of recent developments. This book is dedicated to the late Dr Mihir K. Bose, former professor of the Department of Geology, Presidency College, Calcutta, India, who actively participated in the development of this new global view of igneous petrology.

Dyke Swarms: Keys for Geodynamic Interpretation

Dykes occur in a wide variety of geological and tectonic settings and their detailed study through space and time is imperative for understanding several geological events. Dykes are believed to be an integral part of continental rifting and when they occur as spatially extensive swarms of adequate size, they can be of immense utility in continental reconstructions and also help to identify Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs). It is known that continental flood basalts and major dyke swarms have their origin related in some way to the up-rise of hot mantle plumes which may lead to rifting and eventual continental break-up. Dykes signify crustal extension and are important indicators of crustal stabilisation events, supercontinental assembly and dispersal, crust-mantle interaction and play a significant role in the delineation of crustal provinces as well as in deciphering crustal evolution events. Many economic mineral deposits of the world are also associated with a variety of dykes. The volume will provide state-of-the-art information on all aspects of dykes with emphasis on the origin, evolution and emplacement of dykes.

Large Igneous Provinces

Published by the American Geophysical Union as part of the Geophysical Monograph Series, Volume 100. Continental flood basalts, volcanic passive margins, and oceanic plateaus represent the largest known volcanic episodes on our planet, yet they are not easily explained by plate tectonics. Indeed, some are likely to record periods when the outward transfer of material and energy from the Earth's interior operated in a significantly different mode than at present. In recent years, interest in large-scale mafic magmatism has surged as high-precision geochronological, detailed geochemical, and increasingly sophisticated geophysical data have become available for many provinces. However, the shee...

This book presents in a concise format a simplified and coherent geological-dynamical history of the Indian subcontinent (including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Southern Tibet and Pakistan). Encompassing a broad array of information related to structure and tectonics, stratigraphy and palaeontology, sedimentation and palaeogeography, petrology and geochemistry, geomorphology and geophysics, it explores the geodynamic developments that took place from the beginning around 3.4 billion years ago to the last about 5,000 years before present. Presented in a distilled form, the observations and deductions of practitioners, this book is meant for teachers, researchers and students of geology, geophysics and geomorphology and practitioners of earth sciences. A comprehensive list of references to original works provides guidance for those seeking further details and who wish to examine selected problems in depth. The book is illustrated with a wealth of maps, cross sections and block diagrams — all simplified and redesigned.

This book constitutes the thoroughly reviewed post-proceeding of International Workshops on Coordination, Organization, Institutions and Norms in Agent Systems, COIN@AAMAS 2012, held in Valencia, Spain in June 2012. The 13 revised full papers presented together with 1 invited talk went through several rounds of reviewing and revision and were carefully selected for presentations. The papers are organized in topical sections on compliance and enforcement, norm emergence and social strategies, refinement, contextualisation and adaptation.
