This book evolved from our lectures in the advanced algebra courses at Nanjing University. It is intended for use by instructors and undergraduate students in a one-year advanced algebra course.The topics covered in this book consist of integers and polynomials, determinants and matrices, linear systems, linear spaces, linear maps, λ-matrices, quadratic forms, inner product spaces, and bilinear forms.There are sufficient well-selected exercises of a wide range to provide ample practice, expand coverage of topics treated in the text, and challenge the strongest students.Our objective is to prepare students with a solid foundation for pursuing advanced mathematics. We hope that the material presented here will interest the students and help them ask their own questions, look for their own examples, and discover their own proofs.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Virtual Conference on Noncommutative Rings and their Applications VII, in honor of Tariq Rizvi, held from July 5–7, 2021, and the Virtual Conference on Quadratic Forms, Rings and Codes, held on July 8, 2021, both of which were hosted by the Université d'Artois, Lens, France. The articles cover topics in commutative and noncommutative algebra and applications to coding theory. This volume is the Proceedings of the Third Korea-China-Japan Inter national Symposium on Ring Theory held jointly with the Second Korea Japan Joint Ring Theory Seminar which took place at the historical resort area of Korea, Kyongju, June 28-July 3, 1999. This book describes a variety of highly effective and efficient structure-preserving algorithms for second-order oscillatory differential equations. Such systems arise in many branches of science and engineering, and the examples in the book include systems from quantum physics, celestial mechanics and electronics. To accurately simulate the true behavior of such systems, a numerical algorithm must preserve as much as possible their key structural properties: time-reversibility, oscillation, symplecticity, and energy and momentum conservation. The book describes novel advances in RKN methods, ERKN methods, Filon-type asymptotic methods, AVF methods, and trigonometric Fourier collocation methods. The accuracy and efficiency of each of these algorithms are tested via careful numerical simulations, and their structure-preserving properties are rigorously established by theoretical analysis. The book also gives insights into the practical implementation of the methods. This book is intended for engineers and scientists investigating oscillatory systems, as well as for teachers and students who are interested in structure-preserving algorithms for differential equations.
