Sophie Gallagher drives a tour bus on the island of Guernsey, with nothing more important to consider than how to show off the sleepy little island to its best advantage, and perhaps her eventual marriage to her partner, Assistant Harbourmaster James Candish. But when she picks up from the airport a group of Arab visitors, Sophie's suspicions are aroused by the strange behaviour of her guests. When she uncovers the truth she can hardly believe it, for the plan is to hold the entire island to ransom. Having taken control of the infrastructure and planted bombs at strategic points, the terrorists also kidnap the island's leading figures and inform the British Government that they will commence shooting if their demands are not met.

Historical Dictionary of Choral Music

A Library Journal Starred Review (March 2024) praises the book as a "remarkable resource that will please both musical professionals and amateurs, along with teachers and their students, and conductors and singers.” Throughout the ages, people have wanted to sing in a communal context. This desire apparently stems from a deeply rooted human instinct. Consequently, choral performance historically has often been related to human rituals and ceremonies, especially rites of a religious nature. Historical Dictionary of Choral Music, Second Edition contains a chronology, an introduction, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has more than 1,300 cross-referenced entries on composers, conductors, choral ensembles, choral genres, and choral repertoire. This book is an excellent resource for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about choral music.

In order to examine the impact of lived experiences on successful aging, demographics were collected and participants were administered the gerotranscendence scale further revised. Findings reveal that when success is conceptualized using gerotranscendence theory, women of color may still appear less succes...
