The Proceeding book presented the 3rd International Conference on Gender Equality and Ecological Justice, which is an international conference hosted by Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana. Total 29 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from about 50 submissions with the topics not limited to Gender Equality and Ecological Justice. The 2019 Conference was held at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Salatiga, Indonesia from 10 to 11 July 2019 which had been attended by academics and researchers from various universities worldwide with the theme of an Ecofeminist Initiative: Science and Knowledge Synergy Towards Global Wisdom & Sustainability.

Gendering the Field
The chapters in this book offer concrete examples from all over the world to show how community livelihoods in mineral-rich tracts can be more sustainable by fully integrating gender concerns into all aspects of the relationship between mining practices and mine affected communities. By looking at the mining industry and the mine-affected communities through a gender lens, the authors indicate a variety of practical strategies to mitigate the impacts of mining on women's livelihoods without undermining women's voice and status within the mine-affected communities. The term 'field' in the title of this volume is not restricted to the open-cut pits of large scale mining operations which are male-dominated workplaces, or with mining as a masculine, capital-intensive industry, but also connotes the wider range of mineral extractive practices which are carried out informally by women and men of artisanal communities at much smaller geographical scales throughout the mineral-rich tracts of poorer countries.

Traditional separation of powers theories assumed that governmental despotism will be prevented by dividing the branches of government which will check one another. Modern governments function with unexpected complicity among these branches. Sometimes one of the branches becomes overwhelming. Other governmental structures, however, tend to mitigate these tendencies to domination. Ketahanan pangan memainkan peran penting dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan dasar masyarakat, mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi, dan menciptakan stabilitas sosial. Oleh karena itu, menjaga ketahanan pangan dalam negeri tidak hanya sebatas pada pencegahan kelaparan semata, tetapi juga tentang menciptakan pondasi yang kuat untuk perkembangan yang berkelanjutan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Posisi Indonesia dalam Indeks Ketahanan Pangan Global 2022 (Global Food Security Index 2020) berada pada posisi ranking 63 dari 113 negara yang di survey dengan nilai 60,2. Namun demikian nilai indeks ketahanan pangan Indonesia masih dibawah rata rata global yaitu 62,2 serta rata rata Asia yang nilainya mencapai 63,4. Negara tetangga yaitu Singapura, Malaysia serta Thailand berada di posisi yang lebih aman ketahanan pangannya. Hal ini mengindikasikan masih perlunya upaya keras dan serius untuk mencapai ketahanan pangan yang optimal (Hadyan 2021).
