Esta obra forma parte de un esfuerzo realizado por la Academia de Gobierno y Gestión Pública del Campus Playa del Carmen por abrir espacios de análisis y discusión que aporten al conocimiento de las particularidades de la sociedad quintanarroense, solidarense y sus instituciones. En ese sentido damos continuidad a la reflexión teórica y práctica del quehacer público en el Estado de Quintana Roo que tiene como antecedentes los libros: Estudios Municipales de Quintana Roo (2018) e Instrumentos y acciones de los gobiernos municipales para el Desarrollo (2021). Este trabajo parte del análisis y observación de programas y políticas públicas de los gobiernos municipales y el gobierno estatal y busca contribuir al debate que nutre la agenda pública con información sistematizada que da cuenta de la realidad política, social, económica y administrativa del estado.

The Diplomatic Enlightenment
This book reconfigures the study of the origins of the Enlightenment in the Spanish Empire. Challenging dominant interpretations of the period, this book shows that early eighteenth-century Spanish authors turned to Enlightenment ideas to reinvent Spain’s role in the European balance of power. And while international law grew to provide a legal framework that could safeguard peace, Spanish officials, diplomats, and authors, hardened by the failure of Spanish diplomacy, sought instead to regulate international relations by drawing on investment, profit, and self-interest. The book shows, on the basis of new archival research, that the Diplomatic Enlightenment sought to turn the Spanish Empire into a space for closer political cooperation with other European and non-European states and empires.
