???“Caminhos Biogeográficos do Brasil” representa a integração do Grupo de Estudos em Biogeografia e Dinâmicas da Paisagem da UFRRJ com pesquisadores parceiros da Associação Brasileira de Biogeografia – ABBIOGEO, a fim de produzir um material didático e científico para o entendimento das paisagens brasileiras. A obra ?possui 14 capítulos, os quais apresentam uma parcela da diversidade de paisagens existentes em nosso país, passando pelos Biomas da Caatinga, do Cerrado, Pantanal, Mata Atlântica e Pampa, como também outros ecossistemas, como mangues e restingas. Para tal, os autores apresentam diferentes métodos ?analíticos para o entendimento das dinâmicas da paisagem, tendo como foco, os estudos de vegetação e suas associações com meio biótico e abiótico, bem como, revisões teóricas consolidadas, a fim de contribuir na disseminação do conhecimento e na divulgação da ciência biogeográfica produzida no Brasil.??
This book argues that modelling should be a component of all school curricula that aspire to provide ‘authentic science education for all’. The literature on modelling is reviewed and a ‘model of modelling’ is proposed. The conditions for the successful implementation of the ‘model of modelling’ in classrooms are explored and illustrated from practical experience. The roles of argumentation, visualisation, and analogical reasoning, in successful modelling-based teaching are reviewed.
