La música de José Nieto para la serie documental "Ciudades Perdidas: Petra y el Imperio Nabateo". Un análisis audiovisual
El presente trabajo analiza la música compuesta por José Nieto para el capítulo inicial de la Serie documental Ciudades Perdidas, cuyo título es Petra y el Imperio Nabateo. Para la realización del mismo se ha establecido el estado de la cuestión y se ha determinado la ausencia de estudios en profundidad sobre la obra documental del autor. El análisis contempla tanto las características del material musical como su interacción con la imagen y los demás elementos de la banda sonora. Esta investigación nos ha llevado a concluir, fundamentalmente, que el compositor realiza un tratamiento magistral de la música diegética, adaptando un canto beduino preexistente como uno de los temas centrales del documental e integrando grabaciones previas en el discurso sinfónico; asimismo logra un clima unitario y diverso, tanto musical como conceptual y funcional, a través de tres temas centrales, que desarrolla en posteriores variaciones en las que aborda incluso lenguajes contemporáneos. Finalmente, hemos constatado la importancia que el autor concede al género documental después de una dilatada carrera dedicada a la música para el cine.
