Das Jugendstrafrecht befindet sich nicht nur in Deutschland in einem ständigen Umbruch. Die tiefgreifenden gesellschaftlichen und politischen Umwälzungen in Osteuropa, die neuen Erscheinungsformen der Jugenddelinquenz und nicht zuletzt die Bestrebungen auf europäi-scher Ebene, einheitliche Menschenrechtstandards durchzusetzen bis hin zur Harmonisierung des Jugend(straf)rechts haben zu vielfältigen Reformgesetzen geführt. Die Verfasserin hat sich den Bereich der Jugendgerichtsbarkeit und des Jugendstrafverfah-rens aus einem thematisch auf das gesamte Jugendstrafrecht ausgelegten, von der Europäi-schen Union sowie dem Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern geförderten Projekt herausgegrif-fen und eine umfassende Bestandsaufnahme vorgelegt, die man schon aufgrund des Um-fangs als Enzyklopädiedes europäischen Jugendstrafverfahrensrechts bezeichnen könnte.
Die ostdeutsche Gesellschaft
Seit der Öffnung der ostdeutschen Archive nach 1990 hat sich die französische Forschung zur DDR und den neuen Bundesländern dynamisch entwickelt. Dies ist bisher wegen des Übersetzungsproblems kaum wahrgenommen worden. Nunmehr liegt ein Band auf Deutsch vor, in dem Autoren in einem interdisziplinären und internationalen Rahmen die Ergebnisse ihrer Arbeit präsentieren. Die französische DDR- und Transformationsforschung ist durch einen eigenen methodischen Ansatz gekennzeichnet, der sich auf die sozialen Akteure, ihre Praktiken, ihre Erfahrungen und ihre Lebenswelt konzentriert, um die Prozesse und Strukturen innerhalb der DDR-Gesellschaft zu rekonstruieren. Dieser sozio-politische Ansatz (socio-histoire) erlaubt es, die ostdeutsche Gesellschaft in ihrer Geschichte und Gegenwart zu 'entnationalisieren' und sie in einem breiten europäischen Rahmen zu diskutieren.

La multiplicité des profils de délinquants et la diversification des transgressions préoccupent une partie importante de la population. Ces particularités, tout comme les nouvelles pratiques, sont à envisager sous le prisme de la société tout entière selon une démarche pluridisciplinaire, dont témoignent ces contributions.
