With the growth in our reliance on information systems and computer science, information modeling and knowledge bases have become a focus for academic attention and research. The amount and complexity of information, the number of levels of abstraction and the size of databases and knowledge bases all continue to increase, and new challenges and problems arise every day. This book is part of the series Information Modelling and Knowledge Bases, which concentrates on a variety of themes such as the design and specification of information systems, software engineering and knowledge and process management. Attention is also paid to theoretical disciplines including cognitive science, artificial...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 28th International Symposium on Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, MFCS 2003, held in Bratislava, Slovakia in August 2003. The 55 revised full papers presented together with 7 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 137 submissions. All current aspects in theoretical computer science are addressed, ranging from discrete mathematics, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, networking, algorithms, and complexity to programming theory, formal methods, and mathematical logic.
In the last decades, information modelling and knowledge bases have become hot topics not only in academic communities related to information systems and computer science, but also in business areas where information technology is applied. This book aims to exchange scientific results and experiences achieved in computer science and other related disciplines using innovative methods and progressive approaches. A platform has been established drawing together researchers as well as practitioners dealing with information modelling and knowledge bases. The main topics of this publication target the variety of themes in the domain of information modelling, conceptual analysis, design and specification of information systems, ontologies, software engineering, knowledge and process management, data and knowledge bases. The editors also aim at applying new progressive theories.
Focuses on theoretical disciplines including cognitive science, artificial intelligence, logic, linguistics and analytical philosophy.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post conference proceedings of the first edition of the Semantic Web Evaluation Challenge, SemWebEval 2014, co-located with the 11th Extended Semantic Web conference, held in Anissaras, Crete, Greece, in May 2014. This book includes the descriptions of all methods and tools that competed at SemWebEval 2014, together with a detailed description of the tasks, evaluation procedures and datasets. The contributions are grouped in three areas: semantic publishing (sempub), concept-level sentiment analysis (ssa), and linked-data enabled recommender systems (recsys).
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed short papers, workshops and doctoral consortium papers of the 23rd European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information Systems, ADBIS 2019, held in Bled, Slovenia, in September 2019. The 19 short research papers and the 5 doctoral consortium papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 103 submissions, and the 31 workshop papers were selected out of 67 submitted papers. The papers are organized in the following sections: Short Papers; Workshops Papers; Doctoral Consortium Papers; and cover a wide spectrum of topics related to database and information systems technologies for advanced applications.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th East European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information Systems, ADBIS 2008, held in Pori, Finland, on September 5-9, 2008. The 22 revised papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 66 submissions. Topically, the papers span a wide spectrum of the database and information systems field: from query optimisation, and transaction processing via design methods to application oriented topics like XML and data on the web.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Semantic Web Conference, ISWC 2008, held in Karlsruhe, Germany, during October 26-30, 2008. The volume contains 43 revised full research papers selected from a total of 261 submissions, of which an additional 3 papers were referred to the semantic Web in-use track; 11 papers out of 26 submissions to the semantic Web in-use track, and 7 papers and 12 posters accepted out of 39 submissions to the doctorial consortium. The topics covered in the research track are ontology engineering; data management; software and service engineering; non-standard reasoning with ontologies; semantic retrieval; OWL; ontology alignment; description logics; user interfaces; Web data and knowledge; semantic Web services; semantic social networks; and rules and relatedness. The semantic Web in-use track covers knowledge management; business applications; applications from home to space; and services and infrastructure.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th Industrial Conference on Data Mining, ICDM 2006, held in Leipzig, Germany in July 2006. Presents 45 carefully reviewed and revised full papers organized in topical sections on data mining in medicine, Web mining and logfile analysis, theoretical aspects of data mining, data mining in marketing, mining signals and images, and aspects of data mining, and applications such as intrusion detection, and more.
