The effective use of technology offers numerous benefits in protecting cultural heritage. With the proper implementation of these tools, the management and conservation of artifacts and knowledge are better attained. The Handbook of Research on Emerging Technologies for Digital Preservation and Information Modeling is an authoritative resource for the latest research on the application of current innovations in the fields of architecture and archaeology to promote the conservation of cultural heritage. Highlighting a range of real-world applications and digital tools, this book is ideally designed for upper-level students, professionals, researchers, and academics interested in the preservation of cultures.
The effective use of technology offers numerous benefits in protecting cultural heritage. With the proper implementation of these tools, the management and conservation of artifacts and knowledge are better attained. Digital Curation: Breakthroughs in Research and Practice is a critical source of academic knowledge on the preservation, selection, collection, maintenance, and archiving of digital materials. Highlighting a range of pertinent topics such as electronic resource management, digital preservation, and virtual restoration, this publication is an ideal reference source for digital curators, technology developers, IT professionals, academicians, researchers, and graduate-level students interested in the curation and preservation of digital resources.
This is the proceedings of the XVI International Congress of Graphic Design in Architecture, EGA 2016, held in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, in June 2016. About 200 professionals and researchers from 18 different countries attended the Congress. This book will be of interest to researchers in the field of architecture and Engineering. Topics discussed are Innovations in Architecture, graphic design and architecture, history and heritage among others.
Extensive work is a result of four year research within the international project Women's Creativity since the Modern Movement, and brings new insights into women in architecture, construction, design, urban planning and landscape architecture in Europe and in the rest of the world. It is divided into eight chapters that combine 116 articles on topics: A. Women’s education and training: National and international mappings; B. Women’s legacy and heritage: Protection, restoration and enhancement; C. Women in communication and professional networks; D. Women and cultural tourism; E. Women’s achievements and professional attainments: Moving boundaries; F. Women and sustainability: City and...
This book gathers more than 150 peer-reviewed papers presented at the 5th INTBAU International Annual Event, held in Milan, Italy, in July 2017. The book represents an invaluable and up-to-date international exchange of research, case studies and best practice to confront the challenges of designing places, building cultural landscapes and enabling the development of communities. The papers investigate methodologies of representation, communication and valorization of historic urban landscapes and cultural heritage, monitoring conservation management, cultural issues in heritage assessment, placemaking and local identity enhancement, as well as reconstruction of settlements affected by disasters. With contributions from leading experts, including university researchers, professionals and policy makers, the book addresses all who seek to understand and address the challenges faced in the protection and enhancement of the heritage that has been created.
This book contains extended versions of selected papers from the 3rd edition of the International Symposium CompIMAGE. These contributions include cover methods of signal and image processing and analysis to tackle problems found in medicine, material science, surveillance, biometric, robotics, defence, satellite data, traffic analysis and architecture, image segmentation, 2D and 3D reconstruction, data acquisition, interpolation and registration, data visualization, motion and deformation analysis and 3D vision.
| The study proposes a concise method to construct the principal axes of a quadric surface, starting with a generic segment. The construction of the axes of a quadric is part of the classical problems of descriptive geometry, and is particularly complex if tackled using graphic representation methods. The proposed method, concise and therefore graphic, is elaborated using threedimensional digital drawing. The descriptive construction, applied to a quadric cone, is generalised and extended to all other quadric surfaces.
