There is no denying the role of empirical research in finance and the remarkable progress of empirical techniques in this research field. This Special Issue focuses on the broad topic of “Empirical Finance” and includes novel empirical research associated with financial data. One example includes the application of novel empirical techniques, such as machine learning, data mining, wavelet transform, copula analysis, and TV-VAR, to financial data. The Special Issue includes contributions on empirical finance, such as algorithmic trading, market efficiency, market microstructure, portfolio theory and asset allocation, asset pricing models, liquidity risk premium, currency crisis, return predictability, and volatility modeling.
Friars on the Frontier
Focusing on the Dominican Order's activities in southeastern Poland from the canonisation of the Polish Dominican St Hyacinth (1594) to the outbreak of Bogdan Chmielnicki's Cossack revolt (1648-54) this book reveals the renovation and popularity of the pre-existing Mendicant culture of piety in the period following the Council of Trent (1545-64). This volume gathers peer-reviewed contributions on data analysis, classification and related areas presented at the 28th Conference of the Section on Classification and Data Analysis of the Polish Statistical Association, SKAD 2019, held in Szczecin, Poland, on September 18–20, 2019. Providing a balance between theoretical and methodological contributions and empirical papers, it covers a broad variety of topics, ranging from multivariate data analysis, classification and regression, symbolic (and other) data analysis, visualization, data mining, and computer methods to composite measures, and numerous applications of data analysis methods in economics, finance and other social sciences.
