This book is an anthology of sonnets that were composed over an eleven year period and serves as a sort of primer for my forthcoming book, Gethsemane. The poetry contained in this book are both romantic and philosophical and provide heartfelt passages that stir the imagination.
DeFragmentation is an epic prose that captures the soliloquy of an distraught man recounting his relationship with his ex-fiancee, while trying to deconstruct the reasons for their separation. Written by author, and poet, R. Douglas Jacobs (Gethsemane, The Rhymes of Love and Reason), this literary work is a genuine catharsis depicting human frailty of through an intimate, poignant perspective.
The Slip-slide Misadventure of Mildew Goo is a rhythmic fable told in the spirited tradition of an epic nursery rhyme in where a foam, named Soapy Suds is befriended by a fungus, named Mildew Goo, in order to be rescued from the dark clutches of a bathtub drain. The virtue of humility becomes the central theme of the story during the course of Mildew's attempt to rescue Soapy. The illustrations to the book are both fitting and indelible in how they portray the characters and the ending really leaves you with a cliffhanger while allowing the impressionable mind of a child to imagine the fate of the main characters. The illustrations were created by cartoonist, Nicholas Voshall.
Research on abnormal human hemoglobins (protein in blood that carries oxygen), has taught us about the inheritance, biochemistry, and distribution of these traits. Th is knowledge, coupled with mathematical research using computer models of population genetics, has enabled researchers to marry biological fact and genetic theory. This volume places medical understanding in an evolutionary framework. Using published data on the frequencies of abnormal hemoglobins in the world's populations, Livingston analyzes and interprets these frequencies in the light of world distribution of diff erent forms of diseases such as malaria. He further develops the genetic theory of the evolutionary homeostasi...
