Nikkei Microdevices' 2006 report on flat panel display (FPD) industry includes: -Exclusive in-depth interviews with 28 top executives in the industry -Over 250 information-packed figures, tables and pictures -Proprietary intelligence not available anywhere else In 2006, competitive conditions in the flat panel display (FPD) industry will change significantly. The era in which competition was primarily based on increasing investment and glass substrate sizes is over. Henceforth, overall capability, including parts/material strategy and equipment strategy, will become the decisive factor. By 2010, parts and material costs will account for 80% of the total cost of large-size LCD panels, which will drive future market expansions; thus, parts and materials will make up most of the value addition in panels. Leading panel makers are starting to reinforce their cooperative relationships with parts and material makers, as well as with equipment makers.

Wireless power transfer allows the transfer of energy from a transmitter to a receiver across an air gap, without any electrical connections. Technically, any device that needs power can become an application for wireless power transmission. The current list of applications is therefore very diverse, from low-power portable electronics and household devices to high-power industrial automation and electric vehicles. With the rise of IoT sensor networks and Industry 4.0, the presence of wireless energy transfer will only increase. In order to improve the current state of the art, models are being developed and tested experimentally. Such models allow simulating, quantifying, predicting, or visualizing certain aspects of the power transfer from transmitter(s) to receiver(s). Moreover, they often result in a better understanding of the fundamentals of the wireless link. This book presents a wonderful collection of peer-reviewed papers that focus on the modelling of wireless power transmission. It covers both inductive and capacitive wireless coupling and includes work on multiple transmitters and/or receivers.

Printing Technology for Flexible Substrates

A huge revolution is emerging in the format and manufacturing process of electronic devices including displays brought on by the use of plastic substrates and printing technology. Flexible substrates enable large displays that can be freely bent, lightweight, and easily transported, as a result. In addition, the new technology has the potential of achieving various new devices such as e-paper, a new display medium, which epitomizes the advantage of hard copy paper; solar cells which are 1/10 the weight; sensors that can be completely embedded in floors and personal clothing. This report analyzes the latest trends in the technology and materials surrounding the manufacturing process of flexible electronic devices, with the above exciting breakthrough features.

Functional Organic Liquids

The first book to comprehensively cover the burgeoning new class of soft materials known as functional organic liquids Functional organic liquids, a new concept in soft matter materials science, exhibit favorable properties compared to amorphous polymers and ionic liquids. They are composed of a functional core unit and a side chain, which induces fluidity even at room temperature. Due to their fluidity, functional organic liquids can adopt any shape and geometry and fulfill their function in stretchable and bendable devices for applications in photovoltaics, organic electronics, biomedicine, and biochemistry. Presented in five parts, this book starts with an overview of the design methods a...
