The Contract

When four friends decide to share the perfect dress ... magic happens Strapped for cash, artist Hayley Spencer is forced to paint and sell shabby-chic furniture to keep her fledgling B&B afloat. When the opportunity to "unofficially" promote her B&B at an exclusive trade show results in an evening with billionaire Sam Morgan, she can't believe her bad luck. It gets worse. Her embarrassing life choice follows her home, where she contracts to care exclusively for Sam's ailing father at the B&B for one year. Now Sam flies up to Laurel Valley every weekend. This was all about his father's recovery, not the shy B&B hostess who's extremely agreeable to look at, right? Hayley and Sam's tussles are at times heartbreaking, other times laugh-out-loud hilarious, and always lead them back to the undeniable truth, Sam and Hayley together could be magic.

The Real Ireland

The Real Ireland is the first study of Irish documentary film, but more than that, it is a study of Ireland itself--of how the idea of Ireland evolved throughout the twentieth century and how documentary cinema both recorded and participated in the process of change. More than just a film studies work, it is a discussion of history, politics and culture, which also explores the philosophical roots of the documentary idea, and how this idea informs concepts of society, self and nation. It features rare and previously unseen illustrations and a detailed documentary filmography, the first of its kind in print anywhere.

A big shout out to my best friend Kim for getting me the gig. The job isn't as advertised, of course. Why is it never that easy? England, My England and Other Stories

The fourteen short stories collected in this volume were written between 1913 and 1921, most of them against the background of the 1914-18 War. All but one were published in slightly different versions by magazines and periodicals on both sides of the Atlantic. Ten were selected and revised by Lawrence for his collection England, My England published in 1922 in the United States and 1924 in Britain. Some of the stories included in this volume are "Tickets Please", "The Blind Man", "Monkey Nuts", "Wintry Peacock", "Hadrian", "Samson and Delilah", "The Primrose Path", "The Horse-Dealer's Daughter", and "The Last Straw". The texts aim to recover Lawrence's own intentions, which editors and publishers all too frequently ignored or altered. Where possible, manuscripts and corrected typescripts are used as base-texts. The introduction traces the composition and revision of the stories, setting them in the context of Lawrence's life and work. The textual apparatus gives variant readings, and explanatory notes identify sources, references and quotations. The 1915 version of "England, My England" is given in an appendix.
