These innate value concepts for research and teaching serve to define its disciplinary competence and lay the foundation for meaningful inter- and trans-disciplinary research and teaching. The «Personal and Social Systems Theory of Household Activities» is conceived as a self-contained scientific theory and methodology for university home economics research and education. As an applied science of great varieties of practice-oriented professions it offers the essential common foundation.

Das Verhältnis von Kulturtheorie und Sozialpädagogik wird in dieser Untersuchung anhand der Philosophie der symbolischen Formen theoretisch neu fundiert. Enabling Responsible Living
The book focuses on responsible living as the individual’s contribution to sustainable development. We believe that sustainable development can only be achieved if individual freedom and responsibilities are balanced on a high level while taking social, ecological and economic needs into account. A crucial element to achieve this is to integrate different perspectives of stakeholders and co-create a joined approach through partnerships. While partnerships develop new opportunities for the stakeholders involved they also require a readiness for mutual understanding, respect and courage to co-create.
Reinventing Art of Everyday Making
The word 'everyday' is usually loaded with decidedly negative connotations. However, domestic everyday activities are not merely routine work, but also include complex, demanding tasks to solve. Even though everyday problem solving does not necessarily follow logical pathways, it is sensible and effective in handling practical problems. The studies presented in this book explore domestic everyday making, in terms of the kinds of cognitive, social, and practical tasks being faced and the types of skills needed in solving these tasks. The studies also illustrate the different research strategies appropriate to the investigation of the art and skills of domestic everyday making. The target audience of this book includes researchers and students of family and consumer studies, home economics and craft sciences, cultural studies and sociology. Because of the twofold aim of the book, it can be used as a textbook for both content as well as methodological studies.

Agricultural Trade Policy Reforms and Trade Liberalisation in the Mediterranean Basin
Bilateral and multilateral trade agreements have been gaining attention and relevance in recent years. For the countries around the Mediterranean basin the most important regional trade agreements involved are the Euro-Med Agreements, which influence their trade flows as they aim to promote regional integration. Based on the theory of applied welfare economics, this study analyses empirically the impacts of different policy scenarios on the agricultural sector of Mediterranean countries by using an extended and modified version of the trade policy model AGRISIM. The results show that trade liberalisation, either multilateral or bilateral, would be beneficial for the Mediterranean agricultural markets due to positive welfare effects and should be considered by policy makers.
