On 15th February 1941 Rupert Hart-Davis wrote to his wife: 'I've had a delightful letter from David Garnett, suggesting that after the war I should set up for myself as a publisher, and he would come in with me.' The new firm was duly registered in March 1946. This 96 page booklet was reprinted from the pages of The Book Collector. The second half of the work consists of an invaluable 637 title bibliographical checklist of all the books published by the firm from 1947 to 1963.
