Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin (1861 - 1939) was a leading Russian Impressionist painter. In 1875 Korovin entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied with Vasily Perov and Alexei Savrasov. During their student years, the Korovins became friends with fellow students Valentin Serov and Isaac Levitan; Konstantin maintained these friendships throughout his life.In 1881-1882, Korovin spent a year at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, but returned disappointed to the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He studied at the school under his new teacher Vasily Polenov until 1886.In 1885 Korovin traveled to Paris and Spain. "Paris w...

Control of Complex and Uncertain Systems

Control of Complex and Uncertain Systems

This book describes the evolution of feedback theory, from its simplest form to more complex guises, and connects this to the control of complex systems. It systematically develops a new approach to the synthesis of non-linear feedback controllers under uncertainty. This book aims to increase the understanding of potential reactions of such systems to uncertain forces and unknown factors contained in feedback mechanisms. The theoretical basis for a new generation of perfect automatic systems is introduced.

State Observers for Linear Systems with Uncertainty

This book presents the basic concepts and recent developments of linear control problems with perturbations. The presentation concerns both continuous and discrete dynamical systems. It is self-contained and illustrated by numerous examples. From the contents: Notion of state observers Observability Observers of full-phase vectors for fully determined linear systems Functional observers for fully determined linear systems Asymptotic observers for linear systems with uncertainty Observers for bilinear and discrete systems

Approximation Procedures in Nonlinear Oscillation Theory

The series is devoted to the publication of high-level monographs which cover the whole spectrum of current nonlinear analysis and applications in various fields, such as optimization, control theory, systems theory, mechanics, engineering, and other sciences. One of its main objectives is to make available to the professional community expositions of results and foundations of methods that play an important role in both the theory and applications of nonlinear analysis. Contributions which are on the borderline of nonlinear analysis and related fields and which stimulate further research at the crossroads of these areas are particularly welcome. Editor-in-Chief Jürgen Appell, Würzburg, Ge...

Geometrical Methods in Variational Problems

This self-contained monograph presents methods for the investigation of nonlinear variational problems. These methods are based on geometric and topological ideas such as topological index, degree of a mapping, Morse-Conley index, Euler characteristics, deformation invariant, homotopic invariant, and the Lusternik-Shnirelman category. Attention is also given to applications in optimisation, mathematical physics, control, and numerical methods. Audience: This volume will be of interest to specialists in functional analysis and its applications, and can also be recommended as a text for graduate and postgraduate-level courses in these fields.

Homotopy of Extremal Problems

This monograph provides a thorough treatment of parameter-dependent extremal problems with local minimum values that remain unchanged under changes of the parameter. The authors consider the theory as well the practical treatment of those problems, both in finite-dimensional as well as in infinite-dimensional spaces. Various applications are considered, e.g., variational calculus, control theory and bifurcations theory. Thorough treatment of parameter-dependent extremal problems with local minimum values. Includes many applications, e.g., variational calculus, control theory and bifurcations theory. Intended for specialists in the field of nonlinear analysis and its applications as well as for students specializing in these subjects.
