But for the salvation of lives He took the form of Lingam - meaning symbol (Arupa Rupa). lingam can be considered both as form as well as formless symbol. This mUrti is called sadA shiva mUrti. Hounds of Shiva

As its mahout goaded the mammoth royal elephant to the open space where Navukkarasu was held, the beast trumpeted in fury, knocking down walls and ornamental arches in wanton aggression. The earth shook under its tread and the crowd surged back in fear. Navukkarasu fearlessly stood his ground asserting, “The Cosmic Dancer who wears a garment of elephant hide will protect me.” The animal charged forward - only to stop short before the saint. In an instant, all aggression leached out of the beast. As docile as a lamb, the elephant circumambulated Navukkarasu, clumsily fell to its knees, and raised its trunk in homage to him. Lumbering to its feet, it then carefully backed away from its int...

Shiv Murthy is a meek, middle-aged professor of history at a college in New Delhi. When Meena, his twenty-four-year-old ward, breaks her leg, she calls on him for help, even though they barely know each other and even though Murthy’s wife is visiting their daughter in another city. Coping with Meena’s care, struggling with the feeling this intellectual, self-possessed, politically minded, and sexually aware young woman stirs in him, Murthy’s life is thrown into even further turmoil when one of his medieval Indian history lessons is challenged by a group of religious extremists. The university responds by giving Murthy the opportunity to apologize publicly. But increasingly in thrall to Meena and influenced by her political convictions, Murthy takes an entirely unexpected plunge into the political world: he defies the university and the fundamentalists, and defies as well his most basic sense of who and what he is.

Ensemble

I had no specific topic in my mind when I started writing this book. Each time the 'hat' (my brain) initiated its magic, it brought out something new, just like a magician's hat. This book is a collection of random stories which bear no connection with each other. Some are a creation of my weird imagination while others are random thoughts and precious memories. It also comprises some stories from my life. It has something for everyone-from adventure to thriller to horror to everyday life situations- sometimes involving confused thoughts, motivational articles and essays, and some of my childhood stories from the 80s. The 'Ensemble' is my first attempt at creating an anthology and compiling different stories in a single book. It is an attempt to cook a perfect magic potion through various stories by mixing different emotional ingredients. Just say abracadabra and teleport into a world full of stories. See you on the other side!
