Eckersberg
One of the most important and influential painters of the 19th century, Eckersberg (1783 - 1853) was a prominent figure in the so-called Golden Age of Danish Art. A painter of great diversity, his art spans many genres, from Romanticism and Neoclassicism to Naturalism and Realism. Eckersberg was also a pioneer of the art of plein air painting. The focus is especially on the contribution to this issue from the theological tradition in protestant Europe between the 16th and the 21st Centuries. The Cultural Heritage of Medieval Rituals
The concepts of genre and ritual are central for the overall occupation with the relationship between the History of the Arts and the History of Christianity in Western Culture. The present volume was planned on the basis of the first annual international conferences at the Centre for the Study of the Cultural Heritage of Medieval Rituals, University of Copenhagen: a collection of 15 essays with a wide range of topics both in terms of chronology and subject matter written.
