William Hewett (1749-1826) was born in Warington, England to John and Hannah Hewwett. In 1775 he came to America where he settled in New Hampshire. In 1781 he married Sarah King (1754-1837). Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Taylor King and was born in New Hampshire. By 1787 they had moved to Maine where they spent their remaining years. They were the parents of seven children. Descendants live in New England and other parts of the United States.
