Dibdin and the English Establishment
Study of the public life of Sir Lewis Tonna Didbin (1852-1938), ecclesiastical lawyer and judge (Dean of the Arches 1903-1934), Ecclesiastical Commissioner (1905-1930), legal advisor to Archbishops Benson, Davidson and Lang, leader in the Church Assembly and defender of the establishment of the Church of England. An evangelical, Didbin treasured the role of the ecclesiastical courts in preserving the reformed heritage of the English church, whilst, also, concerning himself with the reform of these courts and a better working relationship between church and state.
