Nonlinear Dynamics of Discrete and Continuous Systems
This book commemorates the 60th birthday of Dr. Wim van Horssen, a specialist in nonlinear dynamic and wave processes in solids, fluids and structures. In honor of Dr. Horssen’s contributions to the field, it presents papers discussing topics such as the current problems of the theory of nonlinear dynamic processes in continua and structures; applications, including discrete and continuous dynamic models of structures and media; and problems of asymptotic approaches.
Dynamics and Control of Technical Systems
The main topics of this Special Issue are linear and, mainly, nonlinear dynamics, chaos and control of systems and structures and their applications in different field of science and engineering. According to the goal of the Special Issue, the selected contributions are divided into three major parts: Vibration Problems in Vertical Transportation Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos and Control of Elastic Structures and New Strategies and Challenges for Aerospace and Ocean Structures Dynamics and Control. The discussion of real problems in aerospace and how these problems can be understood and solved in view of numerical, computational, theoretical and experimental approaches is an important field in engineering science. The contributions pertaining this class of problems and methods associated to aerospace structures are an important part of this special issue. The contributions cover mathematical modeling, nonlinear analysis, control theory, nonlinear state estimation, experimental analysis and related topics associated to artificial satellites, airplanes, rockets, space tethers, helicopters and related systems.
Vibration Problems ICOVP 2011
This volume presents the Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Vibration Problems, 2011, Prague, Czech Republic. ICOVP 2011 brings together again scientists from different backgrounds who are actively working on vibration-related problems of engineering both in theoretical and applied fields, thus facilitating a lively exchange of ideas, methods and results between the many different research areas. The aim is that reciprocal intellectual fertilization will take place and ensure a broad interdisciplinary research field. The topics, indeed, cover a wide variety of vibration-related subjects, from wave problems in solid mechanics to vibration problems related to biomechanics. The first ICOVP conference was held in 1990 at A.C. College, Jalpaiguri, India, under the co-chairmanship of Professor M.M. Banerjee and Professor P. Biswas. Since then it has been held every 2 years at various venues across the World.
